My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of Joan's dear family. Joan was such a kind and loving woman who I had the pleasure of meeting in Park City. Dear Joanie, I think when God welcomed you to Heaven, he said something like "Job Well Done! Life well lived. You spread your love around to everyone." You may have passed on, but your memories would always live on within us. Thank you for your sacrifices, your care and concern, your love and everything that you have done for me and everyone. Joan was the matriarch of her family. She never told me that, nor did anyone else. It was my observation. When her daughter (and my future wife) Andrea Kern was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease in February, 2014, Joan and I formed a team committed to giving Andrea as long a life as possible in Jensen Beach, Florida. Other family members were also quick to help. As a team, we succeeded in keeping Andrea at home where she belonged right to the end. When a former family friend (and nurse) exposed us all to COVID-19 and hid the truth from us, Andrea would lose her life and Joan came awfully close to losing hers as well back then. Now they are together again on a new team. R.I.P. Joan Ecker and thank you for all you've done! No one else could have replaced you! Jack Kaplan (son-in-law) and husband of Andrea Joan Kern

Granny was always a safe place for me. I'm blessed to have had a brave woman such as her raise me. Before she passed, she sat me and Ally down and told us she was ready to go. I know it was hard for many to lose her, but she is in a better place. Rest in peace, Granny! You will be missed. Until we meet again in Glory, Christy

Through thick and thin my mother was there for everyone. Through my childhood she planned the most beautiful parties, especially for my prom, sweet sixteen birthday and high school plays. They were done with unconditional love. My friends adored her and I will hold her memory in my heart my whole life.

With a heart as big as the sky and with her eternal love of family, Bobby and I express our heartfelt gratitude for being blessed and privileged to have Aunt Joanie in our family. As a very young child and into my teenage years, the memories of many sleepovers in Jamaica are something I will treasure always. Aunt Joanie was a Constant source of love and warmth. Later on it was such a blessing to share many visits with her in Florida. She loved my parents with her whole heart and cared for them as only she could ! Family was everything to her and she taught ALL of us that!! I will miss her, but know she is in a higher place with all of her favorite loved ones!!
