I remember sleepovers at grandma’s house with Joey and Carl. It was like a little vacation. Grandma would cook for us of course, maybe a big plate of chicken cutlets, creamy mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. She would stock up on treats for us. Manhattan Special, cookies, whatever we requested. All the junk we didn’t get at home.
When she went to bed we’d stay up all night (the Manhattan Special).
In the morning she’d make us breakfast. Some sunny side up eggs and buttery toast. Some of my happiest memories as a kid.

When I was about 18 Grandma broke her hip. She did not let that slow her down however. She would pick me up to hang out and we would eat at her favorite place, Millard Fillmore's. Usually when we went out she would get her usual vodka martini straight up with an olive. This time she said she wanted a beer. So the waiter says "what kind of beer would like" and she responds bluntly with an annoyed tone "I told you, a beer". He was caught off guard and stood there like a statue. It was hilarious to me, but no laughing matter to Grandma. She always had a way of saying things that I loved and I'm not ashamed to say it may have rubbed off a bit. I have nothing but fond memories of her and she'll be missed dearly.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Marina in October 2024.I immediately gravitated to her and started to call her “Nona” . For the little time I had spent with her she was very dear to my heart. Her sweet smile I still remember. It was a honor to have known her. Nona will be missed dearly. Love The Agard Family.

Q: What will you miss most about Marina?
A: I met Marina when I first started working for JIB. She introduced herself with grace, professionalism and that beautiful smile that followed her until our last meeting in Medical. She was a powerhouse of a person. Later, she was frail, but once you started speaking to her, you could feel her spark. I will miss that amazing smile that welcomed me the very first day, and the same smile that comforted me throughout her many years at JIB. Marina was a mother figure, a confidant and a truly wise woman. May God open His arms and welcome her into His blissful, heavenly kingdom.

I have very fond memories of Grandma. One time, when I was young, we went to Little Italy to eat. I ordered a lobster for dinner. As the waiter took it out of the tank, I said, "There goes my lobster." Grandma got a kick out of that and always told that story. Another story that she loved to tell about me was when I was on a horse and wagon ride. I fell off and I got up and ran after it to try to get back on. She said it was like an old time western. She was truly the best grandmother anyone could have.

I will always cherish how Grandma welcomed me into her family with such warmth and open arms. At our wedding, she stayed up all night with the younger crowd, telling stories and sharing laughter. Her wisdom was endless, and she had a way of making everyone feel special. She absolutely adored our son, Luca, and their bond was something truly unique. She could never get enough of his kisses. Grandma, we wish we had 99 more years with you! You will be deeply missed, always.

When I 1st was introduced to Ms Marina , she had this beautiful smile and gave Jeanette this pleasant look like.. good catch. She was a small adorable lady who always showed me great hospitality. Later in time when I would go visit, Marina would pause looking at me puzzled trying to remember me. She got it of course saying.. WiL which made me smile. Marina will be missed but, never forgotten. 99 years on this earth she was truly Gods gift to us all. — (Family DJ) Willie djchillwillfte Wiggins
