Grief is like a journey, sometimes a long, difficult journey. But grief is a natural and healthy response to death.
Grief support groups, or bereavement groups, can be found in most communities. If someone important to you or close to you has died, speak to an adult you trust about finding a grief support group near you. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE ALONE IN GRIEF. Being together with others who have experienced a death can give us strenght, hope, and tools for coping during the difficult grief journey. "(2)

Conocí a Bárbara en el 2016, cuándo ambas nos integramos al Mom Café Group ofrecido por el WIC. Nuestras pequeñas se llevan 27 días de diferencia. Recuerdo la carita de Camila, su ternura, siempre fue la más pequeña y tierna del grupo.
Con Bárbara compartimos durante los primeros 3 años de nuestras pequeñas, cumpleaños, celebraciones de Halloween, Navidades, Thanksgiving, paseos al parque, a la piscina, siempre con ese grupo de pequeños que nos alegraban la vida. Fuimos una familia y nos acompañamos en esos primeros años.
Recuerdo que al conocerla me contó de su compromiso con los niños. Antes de Camila ella cuido a unas pequeñas y se esforzó en ayudarlas a educar y a que fueran seres humanos de bien, y también recuerdo que junto con Camila siempre llevaba a un pequeño, hijo de una amiga, a quien ayudaba sin nada a cambio. La recuerdo ofreciendo su ayuda a las personas que la rodeaban, la recuerdo directa en su pensar y actuar, no tenía pelos en la lengua, siempre honesta y sincera.
La recuerdo positiva desde el primer día que supo de su enfermedad, la recuerdo fuerte y abrazada a la vida, a pesar de todas las dificultades; la recuerdo el día que nos compartió la noticia del fin de sus quimios, la alegría en su rostro; la recuerdo la última vez que nos vimos en persona, ella llevando a su pequeña a divertirse a pesar de todas sus dolencias.
Recuerdo nuestra última conversación por teléfono, que valoró y atesoro, pq la distancia nos alejo y no estuve presente en su lucha, así que agradezco que me escuchó y me permitió escucharla.
Eramos personas distintas, y ambas hablamos esa última vez de que a veces esas diferencias no permiten que uno conozca más a fondo a la otra persona, lamentó que haya sido así, pero ya con más años comprendo que a veces la inmadurez y la ignorancia interfieren en nuestras relaciones con otros.
Recuerdo esa conversación dónde me contaba sus luchas y sus aprendizajes, pero sobretodo ese inmenso amor hacia Camila, quien fuera su gran motor para está batalla. Bárbara lo dio todo hasta el último momento, se aferro fuerte por Camila, una gran guerrera!.
La recuerdo diciéndome que no le tenía miedo a la muerte, que si tenía que llegar estaba lista, pero que a pesar de eso, pedía mucho a Dios para que pudiera acompañar a Camila hasta que fuera una adulta. No imagino lo que está pérdida significa para una niña tan pequeña, sólo sé que Bárbara ya no sufre más con ese cuerpo, pero deja un gran vacío y su espíritu está conectado por siempre a su chiquita. Ella y Camila estarán por siempre en mis oraciones y lo que pueda aportar para que Camila se sienta rodeada de amor, lo daré mientras sea posible. Se lo que para mi pequeña significa que yo me vaya unos días, así que sé que Camila va a necesitar de mucho apoyo y compañía para comprender está gran pérdida y sanar las heridas. Camila no está sola y reitero lo que le decía a Bárbara, aquí estamos Lucía y yo, para lo que necesiten, no duden en dejarnoslo saber.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Barbara?
A: It was and always will be on my memories is that that she had a personality of a person with a big heart ❤️ when ever I come to NY and I call her do we could get together she was there for me given me advicer go to deal with my husband eillness she never told me no I can't go it didn't matter if it was raining or snowing she was always there the last time we meet it was last year we meet an the same place as always but this time my husband joined us and she was telling how to deal with this eillness.
